Tipping and splitting FAQ

How much should I tip?
It depends entirely on where you are. In the US, 15-20% is the norm in restaurants. Across much of Europe, service is often included and people round up or leave 5-10%. In Japan, tipping is generally not expected at all. When in doubt, ask a local or check the bill for a service charge already added.
Can it split unevenly?
Not yet, this one divides the total equally. If one person had the lobster and another had a salad, the honest fix is to note the real amounts rather than average them away, which is what an expense tracker is for.
Why round up per person?
Because paying in cash or sending a transfer is easier with a clean number, and rounding up quietly nudges the tip in the right direction. Anything above the exact share simply increases what the table leaves.
